In August of next year, it is sure going to be a fantastic event that the car enthusiast, GM Performance Parts candidate race fans, and the simple thrill seekers should not miss. This would be part of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will queue. You see, motorized Group International (GMI) and the International Speedway Corporation (ISC) has proudly announced that they would be responsible for organizing and promoting special events at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve said.
One of the special events that we look forward to the competition is the race between two giants of the race of the NASCAR Busch Series and Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. These will be presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve to those who are interested in seeing such a spectacle.
Martin Spalding is the current CEO of GMI and during the press conference to inform the public about it, he said, “Our group is pleased to announce that it has entered into an alliance with one of the companies more efficient in the world of motorsports entertainment, CHI. The company will enable us to make our hometown of NASCAR Busch Series, with the Grand Am Rolex Series and motor vehicles in one of the most prestigious races of the world the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Not only are firmly convinced that the many fans of NASCAR racing in Quebec and Canada will witness an exciting race in a course the legendary circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, we expect a large number of fans U.S. want to experiment Montreal and its visitors unique entertainment. “
Unique and fun, really. Indeed, this weekend in 2007 and NASCAR Busch Series Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, would go head to head battle for a huge race, it would certainly be an event that thrill seekers will delight in very much.
You see, this fantastic event also marks the return of such competition in a series of higher world racing, NASCAR, Canada. It would also be the beginning of the series Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Racing in the countries mentioned.
Despite the excellent quality the circuit possesses such as; an enjoyable soft surface, the stage itself is not a well loved one between the teams. Ferrari’s driver Kimi Raikkonen mentioned he thinks it won’t be missed, the track is in a rural area in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by cows grazing in the close by fields without hotels and hard access. Another not very positive aspect is the scarce viewers present during practices and races mainly to the non presence of French drivers. On the other hand, it is significant for teams like Renault to have a race in their home land – France.
Since 1991 Magny-Cours has hosted the race in France, then some years later in 2004 the race nearly disappeared due to poor funding. Last March the French Federation (FFSA) stated this place will not be included in the 2008 Grand Prix Calendar.
Many would certainly like to find a better location and there is a “dream” of hosting the event in Paris, perhaps Euro Disney as a possible site or somewhere close to the Charles de Gaulle airport but none of these options are possible in a small term.
The place where Formula One had its first steps, might not host the event next year since 1955, but the team expects to have it soon in their calendar.
So far in the Formula One 2008 season we are coming close to the end of the first quarter of the races as the Turkish Grand Prix approaches; this will be the fifth race and will take place on May 11th. While the drivers continue to prepare for the 58 laps track the drivers’ standings show current champion Kimi Räikkönen -Ferrari leading the pack with 29 points followed by the Britton Lewis Hamilton-McLaren with 20 points and this year’s surprise driver Robert Kubica-BMW-Sauber in third place. In fourth position we find Ferrari’s Felipe Massa with 18 points and in fifth BMW-Sauber Nick Heidfeld with 16.
In the 2008 team’s standings Ferrari shows the majority of the points with a total of 47 followed by BMW-Sauber with 35 and in third place – most unexpected – McLaren team with 34 points. It is very clear that the McLaren leaders have become aware of their existing situation as they have not had excellent performances and the vehicles’ technology needs to match first then surpass that of Ferrari which is the one setting the paste this season.
McLaren’s top driver; Lewis Hamilton has recognized that he has made terrible choices lately which had led to a visible hole from which he hopes he can get out soon enough. Despite his latest races he is at the number two position but the gap gets larger by the minute. Additionally, his McLaren teammate has proved he is very capable of extraordinary achievements and could eventually overcome Hamilton in the near future. Nevertheless, that has been set on hold due to Kovalainen’s incident at the Catalunya Grand Prix which indeed silenced most if not all at McLaren. Kovalainen was just behind the two Ferrari drivers when he hit the tyre wall on the 22nd lap. The Finn was taken to a nearby hospital and he is now looking to return for the next race in Istanbul.
McLaren’s chief executive Ron Dennis has stated that “The precise cause or causes of his accident are not yet known,”. “Our data shows evidence of a sudden tyre deflation shortly before the accident, but it is still too early to identify what triggered that deflation other than to say that it is likely to have been the result of a wheel rim failure. Regardless of these recent events McLaren is still a top three contender in the race for the championship.
On the other hand, Ferrari’s Räikkönen continues to have certain control of the Formula One tracks especially after the Spanish Grand Prix he added his second triumph of the season and the 17th of his career overall. His teammate the Brazilian Felipe Massa continues his support and keeps growing strong lap by lap.
And finally there is the solid BMW-Sauber driver’s presentation of Robert Kubica who started fourth in the grid and finished the race in the same position. The 23-year-ancient Polish has impressed us this season; he is very confident and a very serious driver and it is a fact his vehicle is providing the driver with the assurance required to lead in the race as he is very closely doing.
Istanbul will soon be opening its doors to these incredible drivers as they start to arrive in Turkey for their driving tests. We sure expect to see more action as the competition gets tougher and the point gap grows apart from their hopes to win the F1 championship.
