That was when my father whispered to me, “Jackie Robinson is not there – go shake his hand.” I did not know that Mr. Robinson, but I knew he was someone special – not everyone could make my dad glow that way. Yet still I dared not tell my daughter and friends about him on all the doors opened for us. Not that I did not know their history, I do not know how they would receive. It is hard to describe the tenor of the times of sixty years ago to today’s teens – so hard to describe a rainbow than a year ago man.Sixty blind, black children were not entitled to attend the same school than whites. Lynch mobs routinely lynched blacks, while local police conveniently blind eye. Black History Month and white privilege

As I’m sure they are aware of February is Black History month in the United States. This is the time of year when most schools will present a program for their students discuss Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and maybe Rosa Parks. But, there are many unsung heroes of the Civil Rights Movement and many contributions made by blacks, historically, that affect our society today.

Often the majority culture does not really know why it is so vital that minorities receive special recognition. As a white woman myself, it’s hard for me to know and perhaps even more hard to clarify, but I reckon it is vital for what I want is to give my best shot.

When the people of the majority culture to find examples of success, it is simple to find other members of the majority culture that dominates the area. Until recently, each of our U.S. presidents were white. The House of Representatives and Senate are dominated by whites. This has the political power rest with the majority culture. When you look at successful business owners and heads of companies, many are Caucasian.

Now, I’m not taking away the hard work sacrifice and dedication of the majority culture. I’m just saying that it is harder for young African Americans to find examples of successful people who look like them who are not rappers or athletes.

I was at a recent dinner with about 10 couples who are personal friends of mine. African-American friend with me and was the only person of color in the table. Within each pair, at least one of them was a business owner, including me and my friend. When you meet with other African-Americans, who are not as common an experience.

Later I wondered how many of those couples you know someone close to them who either have substance abuse problems or a family member who had gone to jail. Right, there were two of 20 people was there a close relative or friend with substance abuse problems and anyone who had relatives who had been in jail. He shared many of the people you know who seem to him have friends or relatives who have suffered imprisonment and / or substance abuse.

It is well documented that there is a disproportionate number of blacks in prison. A white and a black man committing similar crimes often receive different sentences. The Caucasus can get probation, while blacks can do jail time.

It is therefore vital for African Americans to learn about its history – to familiarize yourself with successful people who look like they do. The majority culture has things immediately available for non-African Americans.

If you want to track my family roots back generations, I can do that. My friend who is Black can only go back two generations of their grandparents. This is a part of white privilege. It is not something that whites question, is simply inherent in our system

I often hear whites say many things are better now. There is no more racism. Look, the president of the United States is Black. The truth is that Barack Obama is Black, is married to a Black woman and he was born of a white mother and raised by his white grandparents.

Are things really better in this country? Yes and No. I reckon there are many whites who support equality. They are not consciously racist, the very thought of treating someone differently based on skin color is abhorrent to them.

On the other hand, because there are still many places in the United States are to be retired by choice, often the majority culture does not have daily interactions with people of color. They can work together, but go home to separate areas and cultures. Where this leaves the separation, it is common to develop a nuisance around people who are different, simply because of the lack of exposure. Often, this discomfort can be perceived by the minority culture as evidence of racism.

Another issue that still exists is the formal and informal systems in the United States is inherently racist. This does not mean that individuals who make up the system support racism. It simply means that we are partners based implicit privilege most of us do not even know what we have.

For this trend to an alignment of the majority culture should start to see how privilege is imposed on the systems currently in place and do everything possible to right inequalities. minority culture can help first, realize that many people want to do different things and then be willing to share their experiences to help educate the majority culture than it is to be a member of the existing systems.

Working together in a spirit of acceptance, inclusion and cooperation to make the changes we are seeking as the only race, the human race.

Some mothers have always had a hard time producing breast milk. Mothers with deficient diets have and continue to be especially prone to insufficient breast milk production. King’s Bounty (Sega Genesis) – Although this New World Computing developed title saw a release on many different platforms, for this article we will focus on the Sega Genesis version of the game. Released in February of 1991 to excellent – but not fantastic – reviews, King’s Bounty is a game that easily falls under the radar of most gamers. Graphically, it did not do much that wasn’t already being done better, and the sound is really honestly rudimentary. Fortunately, graphics and sound do not encompass the requirements of a memorable gameplay experience. As is the theme of this article series, we must now isolate a gameplay or design element and elaborate on what makes that particular element worthy of praise and a place alongside the other greats we have covered in this series. For King’s Bounty, this element is easily identified. Having played through it well over one hundred times, this author feels safe to call the treasure map system in King’s Bounty one of the best implemented features of any game of its genre and time.

When loading up King’s Bounty, the player must first choose their character. Immediate magic abilities and the power to control large armies are exchanged for shortened time periods in which the game may be completed. You see, with King’s Bounty, you start the game under a very finite deadline. Exploration is key to success, but must be restrained so as not to waste precious time. As the player explores the game’s several continents, they learn random pieces to a treasure map. This map, when fully formed, will show the area where the player must search for the hidden treasure – which must be located in order to complete the game. While this may seem honestly formulaic on the surface, in practice it is an incredibly rewarding experience. Along with exploration, pieces of the map may be earned through conquering castles and capturing wanted criminals who are holding map sections.

Each game of King’s Bounty is its own unique experience. Deciding whether to immediately start amassing armies and taking over castles in order to secure map pieces, or simply exploring the terrain in the hopes of stumbling upon a lost map fragment are choices that wholly choose the tone of the game. Success can be had by being wholly passive, or entirely militant. The game’s well designed and balanced battle system ensures that even those passive players will have a chance at success if they choose to go adventuring rather than conquering. As the map pieces start to form a somewhat readable map, players may start trying to locate the site of their treasure dig. Most games of King’s Bounty end up in a frantic race against the clock as players search for the exact location that their incomplete map represents.

The game is not long, as most adventures can be completed in under an hour or two. It is also not incredibly hard to defeat the game’s enemies, as large armies can be built in relatively small time. But, the game does a fantastic job of randomly distributing map pieces throughout the game world and mixing up the locations of wanted criminals. Simply place, every single game of King’s Bounty is fun and winnable, yet challenging and singular. Could there be any better reason for including the game in this series?
