Interview with Mine’s Niikura Michizo: GT-R Super Tuner

You may or may not know the name Niikura Michizo, but certainly know the name of Mines. Bridgestone was established after mine. What concept did you have in mind?
Simple is better. A well balanced car that stops, turns and can go quick. Another thing I like doing things that my competitors do not and can not do. I like to do things quick. I like to build [my products and cars] quickly and on time. I despise to be slower than others. Tuning has no regulations as motor racing, but mine is to be quicker than cars that are fully furnished like racing cars. The parties to develop are for my clients, but also have to operate and be excellent for the car. I want to keep me as realistic as possible the fittings for consumers. It is simple to build a larger displacement engine, but how many people do that? Which leads us to make it simple.

I learned a lot in my younger years. I had been involved in motorsports and worked with them when I was younger. I wanted to learn, the experience was a learning process. The teams are only there to win. I wanted to absorb what was available to me in racing. And I place what I learned from that experience in my set-up and products. R32 since the start of the R34 was prety much went to every race in the series Super Taikyu.

You must have become very familiar with the series, but also career development and products. How do I use the R & D to develop its products?
To develop my part, I really get into the races and test my products. I do a lot of testing on the track tenstive private. Testing, R & D does not necessarily have to go full throttle for a race distance. That is not what is needed for R & D. What I stress is not the final speed or the speed or time. It’s really drivability, or driving pleasure. It is about feeling comfortable while driving, so the driver feels. You have to feel excellent, feeling confident about the vehicle. That is much deeper than just the speed or power.

Tell us about the GT-R legacy and why you have chosen to continue the development of horizon.
Long ago it was known as a very excellent car and that tune. And that’s what attracted me. I was attracted by the potential of the GT-R and it was hard to adjust. For the U.S., I am very excited about the release of components of Z and the new 2008 Nissan GT-R. I want to open a store in Los Angeles and has to be my seat in the U.S.. At some point next year.

What are your thoughts on the new against the ancient VQ38 RB26?
They are completely different engines, of course, but they are the twin engines of GT-R. They are fantastic engines. Even if the new engine is not a regular budget, which can be adjusted. I’m not worried. As characterisics car, I do not reckon it’s the only kind of car you want maximum horsepower. The feature of the new GT-R will not boost engine power, but to increase total factor the car a small higher. With the VQ is a breakthrough technology through a block of aluminum, compact V-. I have no concerns about the engine, because it has been developed by one of the best engineers from Nissan. I’m sure it’s a excellent engine to start.

And what about the ancient GT-R against the new?
In Japan a lot of people saying that the R33 is not an accurate successor to the first generation GT-R, not an upgrade, not the R34 to R33. Neither is the R35 to R34. They have all their own characterisitics. Some excellent and terrible. Some people like the R32, etc. So the top four of them have different characteristrics.

What is your design philosophy and how that factor in the crosshairs of the new GT-R?
I reckon overall design concept or character deisgn is similar to the R32 and R33. The R34 is a more sporty car. And this is your first impression. Whereas the R32 and R33 and the new GT-R is more or less design that grows on you. The GT-R and Ferrari are two different cars. The GT-R fans would not accept the GT-R to be like the Ferrari and neither are the designers trying to imitate Ferrari, contrary to what some people might reckon. The debut of the R32 is very similar to the current vehicle. But even now, the R32 is the horizon most well loved of all time.

Who is buying the new GT-R and what rivals do not have in Japan and Europe?
I do not reckon at this moment, there are rivals for the GT-R in Japan. If you are not limited to Japanese cars would be Porsche and BMW. I reckon the buyer will probably increase a bit in terms of age, taller than before.

Turning to a subject a small differently, which has been in nearly all versions of Sony’sGran Tourism. Mine is the GT’s next?
350Z and GT-R will be in the new Gran Turismo. When the new GT-R, I suppose it’s in the game, too. I’m looking forwad to get involved with the game again. I work closely with Yamauchi-san, I know him very well and make sure that my car feel to be in the game. The study of the production of the game is very intense, very accurate. They use a lot of laser scanning devices to scan the entire car. I give sound input of the car and all other parameters.

When should we expect the next Nissan GT-R’s Mine? And what color is it?
I hope to release the new GT-R this year. And it will be white of course.

Bow ties may be a small ancient fashioned, but the truth is that they still make an impression in more ways than one. Red Ties

You need to be very careful when picking one out. You need something that puts forth an image of professionalism and dignity, not some wacky professor over sized novelty tie with yellow polka dots.

We recommend a darker red, or at least a sort of “room temperature” red. A pastel might be okay, but we recommend sticking to the more subdued, less dramatic shades. What’s more vital, though, is how you wear it, the suit, the shirt, the hair, the shoes. The rule of thumb is to keep it all mellow. The suit can be darker than the tie, but not much lighter, and black might clash a bit. Try a tan or gray suit and see how it looks, use your own judgment.

For the shirt, just place on your favorite light colored shirt. Wear brown shoes, and comb your hair neatly. Again, use your own judgment, even if you find that you disagree with us. It’s all about how you look and there’s really no formula for it, as it’s pretty subjective.

Bottom line: Be careful with red. It may be your best bet if you know how to pull it off, but this is your first time with a bow tie, you may want to go with a more mellow approach. . .

Black, Gray and White Ties

With these colors, you have a lot more freedom in the rest of your ensemble. The rule of thumb here is: The darker the tie, the more range you have for the shade of the suit, shoes and shirt. With a light gray tie, you’d better be wearing a lighter shirt and a matching suit. But with a black bow tie, you can wear gray, brown, or black suits.

As with the red, just comb your hair neatly. Longer hair tends to clash with any bow tie, it’s a bit too much of a mix of ancient and new styles. But then again, if you know you can pull it off and still look professional, give it a try. At the end of the day, they’re hiring you for who you are, not who you pretend to be.
