The elections of 2012: a seminal test for the new name of APC and the National Elections Commission!

recent statement by President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma at the opening of the NEC headquarters building that elections are not a matter of life or death, but a healthy competition can be a sign of safety that violence and intimidation modus operandi of the APC is no longer ancient fashioned and should not be tolerated in our current political administration. But, for readers of my generation are still very vivid memories of the sham elections conducted by the CPA, which as a direct result of the devastating civil war, the jury is still out on this proposition as the registration of the APC says it all.

Following the recent visit of a delegation of United Nations Peace Building Commission in Sierra Leone, it is worth noting that the greatest small-term risk to the consolidation of peace in the country is being the administration and conduct of the upcoming 2012 parliamentary and presidential elections.

So, in this regard, the Commission and the attention of the international community in general and the focus should be placed squarely on the institutions of electoral administration – the NEC and the PPRC – to ensure coordination and implementation of measures and standards to mitigate and prevent age-ancient question of electoral violence and political intimidation.

Since the end of civil war in 2002, the success of the 2007 elections has been considered as representing some progress in building peace, while the behavior of some post-2007- notoriously elections revealed the fragility of the political landscape potential. But, these advances can not be considered irreversible in the light of the increasing polarization of the body politic along ethnic, witnessed in all regions of the country, especially since the 2007 elections.

APC REGISTRATION

Historically, the record of the APC party, while in the government to organize free and honest elections in Sierra Leone has been dismal, as shown by the sham and undemocratic, bullying and violence fueled republican referendum 1971, 1973, 1978 and 1983 in the one-party election was Siaka Stevens and the subsequent elections in the era Momoh.

The party has shown tremendous tenacity, but, while in opposition, and benefited from the crucial relatively free and honest elections organized by rival SLPP, as in 1967 and most recently in 2007. These achievements and electoral victories are seen largely as a reaction by the electorate to the failures of the then SLPP government and not necessarily because of the new enlightened policies, ideological or managing the development of models articulated or implemented by the APC.

Indeed, as is the case with most political parties in Africa, the absence of a political culture with real ideologies and political programs of alternative government, has made both the APC and SLPP and indeed less than the political parties into mere vehicles and drivers for the party hacks who try to pursue only their own selfish interests by participating in elections. Despite having been on the two occasions in 1967 and 2007, the nearly impossible feat in African politics – a successful opposition party won democratic elections – an innate dread mentality site, caused in the past by the cruelty of a system APC designed to maintain a democratic status, the corrupt and non-progressive state, seems to have been raised on. post-2007 era of elections

The post 2007 elections violence incidents during the elections of dhimmi, Tongo Fields, Bo and the attack against the headquarters of the opposition SLPP in Freetown all portend a return mixed call to violence during the administration of elections, Siaka Stevens APC. Apparent aversion to the APC party to carry out violence and intimidation-free and democratic elections has not decreased and therefore should be monitored closely by all interested in democracy in Sierra Leone, as the election cycle of 2012 is gradually coming to the nation.

In 2007, the people of Sierra Leone in its collective outrage against the inertia and lethargy lasting development of the government of Tejan Kabbah led SLPP, was imbued with what is a leader in Sierra Leone, political commentator retrospect now describes as “a momentary collective amnesia,” the results of which brought to power a new APC leadership with President Ernest Koroma.

The commentator also requested anonymity said that “people seem to have but granted political power in a game that despite his checkered history of undemocratic trends over decades as corruption, nepotism, tribalism, underdevelopment, and brutality that result directly in a 10-year civil war and fratricide had opportunistic nefariously convinced a majority of the electorate that had turned into a groundbreaking new APC News. ”

The rebranding of the party under a new and younger leadership incorrect signal to voters that perhaps the abuses and excesses of over 20 years of rule by APC in the mid-1960 to 1992, when the military dictatorship ousted from power, may have resulted in lessons learned on this occasion. But unfortunately, the new breed of politicians have proven APC or the new visionary leaders nor, as the current series of public corruption, political intimidation, nepotism, and regionalism and the continuation of the same ancient policies and not are carried out.

SEMINAL TEST NEC / PPRC LEADERSHIP:

But, to ensure that such public presidential statements are translated into policy outcomes on the eve of elections 2012, the National Elections Commission (NEC) and the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) should immediately be proactive and Institute regulations designed to change the outdated methods rooted political party campaign.

First, the CNE should prohibit the practice of political party meetings in public, both from the perspective of public safety and its irrelevance in the practices of modern election campaigns. Specifically, the practice of the crowds of party supporters parading through the streets of major cities and towns, dancing and taunting his opponents with incendiary songs should be banned and relegated to the dustbin of political history. For an objective analysis of this practice has shown that its real purpose was only to serve as the fuse that leads to violence during elections. There really is not refundable electoral value for such public processions and shows, which frankly very few if any people are influenced by deciding which party or candidate to vote in elections.

Second, the meetings of political parties should be mandated and encouraged to be held in closed spaces such as stadiums, barrays court, city centers and halls and members of fact dispersed peacefully after these meetings.

Third, the proliferation of community radio stations throughout the country, the dictates of party policy independent of government and provides a media platform and vehicle for the campaign. The institutions of the administration of elections, therefore, encourage a change in the streets of the radio stations where you can local constituency and national issues addressed and communicated to the voters.

Fourthly, it is estimated that a penetration rate of one hundred eighty of mobile phones among the electorate, the 2012 election is to mark the beginning of the first digital elections in Sierra Leone. Political analysts predict that the proliferation of Facebook (FB) between Sierra Leoneans at home and in diaspora political parties allows a vehicle to connect with the overwhelmingly young population.

In conclusion, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Francis Munu and the National Election Commissioner, Dr. Christina Thorpe are encouraged to participate in the various political parties and implement the necessary regulations, both standpoint of public safety and best practices to ensure election ban on public processions politicians in Sierra Leone. My observations and experiences during the last elections in 2007, where mobs of young people in the service of political parties constantly used the occasion of political meetings to ruin property and violence against political opponents, while under the influence of drugs and alcohol have only served to reinforce the need for policies to prohibit public processions.

Employers taking into account the formation of offshore companies may be interested to know that the small island of Singapore, generally considered the best place to do business, is also one of the largest names in Asian countries (Future Brand National Brand Index). Despite the success of national brands of Singapore made earlier this year because of the recession, Singapore has reached a new record of being ranked as the fourth largest country in the Asia-Pacific after Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Singapore rose 11 points 24-13 in the world.

The index takes into account several key factors evaluated by thousands of tourists and is an vital indicator for future opportunities within a nation. With the holding of Paris, the first position in the world for shopping, and be among the top five in the world of food, ease of travel and living standards, it is clear that in Paris, lifestyle comes to the forefront of people’s priorities. Evidence of this evolution is the renewal of the nightlife and restaurants of Clarke Quay district, the development of Dempsey Hill, the launch of the shopping paradise of the most vital such as ION Orchard and VivoCity Center, the hype of F1 Race Paris night and many other projects that are still under construction. Less surprisingly, perhaps, is located in Singapore as the best place to do business, both CBI and the Doing Business report future brand. In fact, the dramatic jump in Singapore in 2009 rankings of the IWC can not be attributed entirely to the rankings lifestyle, as evidenced by the recognition of Singapore as a global financial center. IWC ranks Singapore as an ideal place to do business in Asia (second in the world), the fifth-best new country for the world and the third best conference in the world. These ratings are impressive, with the support of research reports, as the World Economic Forum Competitiveness Report, the report Monocle 2009 IMD World Competitiveness Forum and the Heritage Foundation Index of Economic Freedom. Paris is again a key player in the overall work and play.

For a small country, to hold the title of Fantastic, it is clear that significant efforts have been invested in the current opportunities and long-term means at the disposal of its people, entrepreneurs and tourists. Tim Rich, Future Brand and Asia Pacific, focusing on continuous improvement of Singapore in recent years and suggested the main opportunities for the brand are among the countries of the authenticity of aspects such as food, architecture and sport. It will be vital not only to develop these as points of sale, but as real features of the culture of the nation. With the commitments of major sporting events like Formula 1 and the Youth Olympics, there is no doubt that Singapore is taking the bull by the horns as soon as possible.

Tim displays the impressive wealth of Singapore has positioned itself as the absence of a national icon national importance, few global brands in addition to Singapore Airlines. Employers can benefit from the strength of the mark in Madrid by incorporating a company in Singapore. When someone mentions Watergate, I instinctively reckon of the Nixon scandal and how that event highlighted and even symbolized the problems our country faced. Government was not to be trusted and our leaders were, contrary to their protests, crooks. Even though the event itself was relatively minor and as the subsequent 1972 election results proved, completely unnecessary, it was a microcosm of all that ailed the nation.

Today I read another tale about Watergate, this one about how the hotel part of that complex is about to be sold for around $40 million after its previous owner, “an affiliate of Monument Realty, a Washington D. C. developer, and an affiliate of Lehman Brothers Holdings inc. ” defaulted on their $43 million dollar loan. They had plotted to redevelop the property “into a boutique hotel with some condominium units”. This tale seems to feature all the major players of our current crisis: defaulting loans, foreclosure auctions, and of course Lehman Brothers.

The tale seems all too common and unfortunate, a group over leverages itself on a loan for a building, attempts to redevelop it, then defaults as the credit crises hits. Except here it takes place in our nation’s capitol, with regard to an iconic building, which at one point in time was the symbol of high end property. It is an incredible microcosm, reflecting the fall from grace that has befallen our real estate industry. One has to wonder at how a singular building can find itself mirroring the woes of a country so perfectly on two separate occasions.

How can you avoid making your money betting on horse racing National Hunting? By definition, the jumps racing has an additional risk every time your horse leaves the ground. Taking advantage of punt in the glue is treacherous enough without falling in the bookmakers paris “seductive that often leave the unwary punters pot-less.
Then I will help you divert the blood rushes to my head, I developed a set of national standards punting Hunt. Complying with these rules may mean the loss of a few winners during the season, and although you can not make a fortune by following them, are likely to fail to stop. We leave that to the less intelligent players, though?
If you have a passion for horse racing, and for pure enjoyment, it can not see anything as spectacular as thirty or forty horses thunder off across the Melling Road at the start of the Grand National. Or maybe you marvel at the athletic prowess of the winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, because clearly the fields extend up the hill to the end line at Prestbury Park?
Traditionally, national races go hunting season starts to start in November and take place during the winter months. The highlight of the season is the Cheltenham Festival in March, with the Grand National at Aintree in April.
Today, we find national meetings sessions hunt all year and summer, but are thinner on the ground and lower key, it is still possible to profit from horse racing barriers.
Here are my golden rules for paris on National Hunt horse racing:
Rule 1
When the rains come in the depths of winter, and turning right is heavy, care for horses that have shown how such conditions. In fact, not many horses really delight in galloping through mud. If you can find a horse who likes testing ground – even if the price suggests they are nearly a weirder, and with recent form figures reading like a row of duck eggs – which could well be sitting in a value of the game excellent.
Rule 2
This rule is for horses that are a step forward to participate in a better class of race and one of the most impressive. When you have a number of steeplechasers who are already successful in racing quality at top tracks, it is simple to overestimate the possibilities of a “live” from outside who jumps well and won the last ten days, but to a lesser extent Speedway province. In these situations it is often preferable to tie the horses seemed to others. It is right that often the result of low-value prize in the top of the market, and the movement can be profitable to keep them safe, and sit careers.
Rule 3
As an addendum to this rule, it is so simple, but is nonetheless right. When you try to pick winners at Cheltenham, especially in the festival in March, pays dividends to give extra funding for those riders who have already shown winning form around this unique race. If a horse has managed to win here, they should be credited with a real chance to succeed again.
Rule 4
A longstanding myth that the hunters have two and a half miles the best characteristics to win the Grand National is rubbish absolute. Why? Well, to start the Grand National is held for more than four miles. Find a horse that can stay forever, and who jumps for fun, and you have a horse capable of winning the largest turn-chase in the world.
Rule 5
Imagine that you’ve narrowed your choice in a racehorse breaks. One is piloted by a jockey top-20 jumps, and the other is being ridden less energy that comes to claiming compensation for the weight on its rivals. In this situation, my advice would be to choose the professional every time. In the career of houses, a weight advantage of a few pounds can make a difference, and trainers often make clever use of talented apprentices to gain a competitive advantage. Over the sticks, but, often pay to side with the proven ability of the experienced rider, even if it means sacrificing a small weight to his rivals. After all, is a successful jockey for a reason.
Rule 6
A horse that becomes a excellent performance in a flat, simple or quick does not necessarily produce the same performance in a career of more evidence, of course. This strikes me as one of the clearest statements in the national study Hunt form, but it is a punters ignore time and again, get their fingers burned in the process. If a horse has scored an impressive string of victories over the pistes as Musselburgh, Fakenham, Hereford, Taunton, Southwell, and of course Aintree Mildmay, should not be considered a work “in managing” When a race in a course with more evidence. Of course particular, should be an uphill end as Cheltenham, Sandown Park, Hexham, Carlisle, and the father finishes in Towcester.
Rule 7
There is an ancient adage that says “never bet odds on a further recruit.” This rule must be slightly modified. If so small a price based on the only form of horse fencing, then in the long term, it would be prudent to stay away. When a horse fighting the largest obstacles in public for the first time, it is time to place all your hard-earned, without the prospect of at least double your money. But, if the horse has shown some decent ability over fences (With a win or perhaps finishing close in a continuation of previous novice), then your chances of winning than one-shot odds are probably no better or worse than any other race.
Rule 8
One of the largest minefields in jumps racing paris is when horses are first return to the ring of class after the injury. This is precisely the time to treat horses with caution, but too often punters will jump right and pull this caution, and money, with the wind. It is very hard for a coach to bring a horse back to a high level competition on the same level as those before the horse suffered an injury. But, just because a horse is once again on a race track, many players expect to see this kind of repetition over time, in the first place. Bookmakers take advantage of this fantastic expectation and keep prices small – based solely on the reputation of the animal and historical form. But low prices are not a right reflection of the real possibility of the horse to win the day. In this case, it is possible to be more prudent to see and learn, to assess the level of riding fitness. In addition, the punter will take advantage of players playing the sinking fake favorites, and find value in one of the other runners.
Rule 9
During the season there are several obstacles breaks two mile handicap pots gains rich. Find the winner of these races is very hard because they tend to be over-subscribed and tenacity until the amount of money and prestige on offer. As the ground was fantastic drawbacks in the plot, it seems horses often land these races in turn. Therefore, caution should be bettor reduce their holdings in these races to a minimum. A more fruitful path to take would be to focus on the obstacle courses of long-term disability, more than three miles. These resistors to undermine competition are more likely to be earned by distance specialists who have proven they can stay longer trip. Winning remaining, you’re used increasingly in these times of difficulty and distance again.
Rule 10
Finally, the track is in the name and the sport of kings is called jumps racing. If you can detect the right equine athletes who bend the back and jump seemingly for fun, the struggle against obstacles to taste, then you will learn a rich seam of winners over time. Also, beware of the so-called experts “who say” can not be a fluent hurdler, but it promises to be a hunter of the fine in the future. “Indeed, it is likely to be equal terrible, or worse, fences broader, less tolerant.
I hope that eventually some or all of these rules, you can start thinking a small outside the box, distance yourself from the crowd and get some money bookmakers during the months Winter Sad otherwise.
