When did the term “racist” become a political tactic?
had always thought that being a racist was a terrible thing. The dictionary defines a racist as someone who expresses “hatred or intolerance of another race or races.” In my opinion, a racist considers a particular set of people to all have the same negative or undesirable characteristics, without exception. Hatred, intolerance, stereotypes that some people with the same regardless, respect and celebrate the person, all those nasty things.
But now I’m not so sure that my understanding of what constitutes a racist is just right. These days, it seems that you are a racist, simply disagree with someone, especially if you disagree with a politician. Consider the following examples:– In early April 2010, New York, Congressman Charles Rangel, during the debate preceding the adoption of legislation Obama’s health care reform, said: “The Washington group that were in the fight against health bill and the fight against the President, who looked like and sounded like the group who attacked the civil rights movement in the South. “

Today’s politicians do not agree with Dr. King. We have allowed our politicians to define someone or some group of Americans as racists who disagree with their worldview. Consider some words of Dr. King’s speech and how far we have strayed from his advice to appoint any person with a different view as a racist. “In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and the discipline. “Our current policy is not simply drink the cup of bitterness and hatred, drinking straight from the barrel of bitterness and hatred. If any of them achieved a high plane of dignity and discipline, most probably faint in the pursuit of such noble principles for the first time in his political life. Why do politicians act like this, so despicable descriptions and accusations that the U.S. can be divided along race, religion, politics, sex, wealth, and other lines of demarcation? Political correctness has gone too far!
In these times it seems impossible that anyone can say anything without someone taking offense to it. Varies from racism to discrimination against people with epilepsy. I wonder what the protests against those who use non-offensive statements clearly.
I am currently in full time education, so the full brunt of political correctness and teachers must be sure not to offend anyone. An example of this brainstorm, clearly a technique used to get thoughts. That is no longer socially acceptable to say it is offensive to epileptics. I have a friend who is epileptic and thus a large number of his family. I’ve wondered about this and are as confused as me about why this is offensive. Racism is an issue I guess it always comes to the fore in discussions of political correctness. Obviously it is for the sake of getting rid of this type, but the discrimination they have corrected the scale too much and allowed people to play the race card too often. Tommie Smith and John Carlos are acclaimed for their black power salute at the 1968 Olympics. This was a groundbreaking moment in the fight against racism. It is still acceptable for people to yell “black power”, as demonstrated in one of my history classes. If I had to stand up and yell “white power”, but, the result would be very different and I would be suspended for remarks against racism. In the world we live in supposedly equal doubt these two states are either both acceptable or unacceptable. A scenario in recent times where I live. A white teenage boy was stabbed to death by a number of black men. The owner of a newspaper? “Knife Crime remains a growing concern” of course there is nothing incorrect with this headline. 10 weeks before though, a black man was beaten by a white man because of harassment of the white man’s sister. People just jump to the conclusion that as soon as it is a clash between people different ethnic backgrounds and white men’s fault he’s a racist. If you reckon that historians, in the north has always been more liberal towards minorities and women. Now we learn that the South, although deeply rooted in the traditions of the past, started to admit that blacks are worthy of being called human beings. And blacks have intelligent thoughts and solutions to improve the areas in which they live. We are questioned to believe, in general, the South now recognize the equality of all as human beings, instead of being blinded by skin color or gender. I would say the opposite is right. Company, North or South, still has much work to do regarding the elimination of racism and gender and religious prejudice. On the surface, it seems there has been fantastic progress in the political arena. This year also saw a black presidential candidate and a presidential candidate white. While polls show that everyone has a excellent chance of becoming President, the election is many months away. The issues of race and gender play a key role in political campaigns in the wings. campaign workers use racial and gender when voters touch. When a minority or a woman is elected, you will find an open mind, people who vote on the candidates’ positions on issues. The exception, if any, is where the candidate represents a constituency that is largely populated by voters of a similar fund to the candidate. In the South, the Ku Klux Klan still active. Although significantly lower than in the case of 100, 50 or even 20 years, will continue to work between the racks to deny blacks their rightful place in the United States. Background problem
Cultural diversity has become the watchword for 1990. We hear less and less about equal employment opportunities and the efforts and affirmative action programs, but more on multiculturalism, cultural diversity management, diversity and training. The importance of cultural diversity movement is largely the forecast demographic changes underway in the U.S. workforce. In 1987, the Hudson Institute published a report, Workforce 2000, which provides for sweeping changes in the demographic composition of the U.S. workforce (Ricucci, 1997, p. 1).
Today, eight years after the population projections were different human resources specialists, policy makers and researchers start to study the effectiveness of training programs in diversity (Ricucci, 1997, p. 2).
progressive managers are more aware of the changing demographic and social conditions. In summary, these managers have an understanding of “intellectual diversity. They know the facts about demographic change and labor force have begun to examine the impact on their respective organizations (Stoner and Russell-Chapin, 1997, p. 1).
Unfortunately, many contemporary organizations have not progressed beyond the first “intellectual awareness” stage. Therefore, these organizations are languishing in the initial phases of diversity movement. Many countries are faced with diversity, but not really handle (Stoner et al., 1997, p. 2). While managers have an “intellectual” knowledge and understanding of the response of the latest and emerging issues, the organization – the adoption of “a sense of the diversity process – has been limited and fragmented (Stoner et al., 1997, p. 3).
Perhaps the most critical choice on the efforts of organizations to prepare our workforce for 2000 is that many employers have not integrated their diversity initiatives throughout the long-term goals and missions organization. Rather, they tend to “pull” refers. Managing diversity is not just a simple program, but an initiative that will take many years (Ricucci, 1997, p. 4).
While organizations recognize the need to work more accepting differences, place too much emphasis on changing people’s attitudes in society rather than changing the corporate culture itself. They are focusing on the diversity training “all inclusive” (Caudron, and Haynes, 1997, p. 2).
Some aspects of diversity management are necessary, or at least highly recommended, as a matter of law. In the U.S., the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (amended in 1972, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, the Age Discrimination Act of 1967 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) all prohibit discrimination based on sex, color, race, religion, pregnancy, national origin, age or physical ability.
The large number of workers covered by these laws, employers would do well to invest in activities such as training managing diversity at work and research to find evidence of unfair treatment of workers related to the membership groups covered by legislation (Cox, 1994, p. 12).
On the other hand, history has shown that the failure of organizations to manage diversity in this sense can lead to costly lawsuits. To name just a few examples, in 1991, a jury awarded $ 20. 3 million to a single person in a sexual discrimination suit involving the denial of promotion (“jury awarded” 1991), in 1998, Honda Motor Company has a $ 6 million settlement of a lawsuit involving allegations of Discrimination against blacks and women in its U.S. study of Cole & Deskins “(quoted in Cox 1994, p. 13). In 1992, Shoney agreed to allocate 105 million U.S. dollars to compensate victims of racial discrimination after a lawsuit was filed against the company to study the pulley (as cited in Cox, 1994, p . 13). Thus, it is obviously not the economy, and the consequences of civic legal obligations in this area of management (Cox. 1994, p. 13.)
PROBLEM
The objectives of this study are: 1) To compare the strategies of human resources policy focused on strategies for diversity awareness and sensitivity training for diversity. 2) Determine which of the two strategies is more effective in reducing racial discrimination in the workplace.
Normative definitions of relevant variables
The independent variables are two different strategies of diversity. Both strategies are studied outreach strategy and training for diversity awareness and human resources (HR) led the political strategy of diversification. The dependent variable is the conduct of racial discrimination.
Specification for the hypothesis of the study
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of two types of diversity strategies in reducing racial discrimination and to test the following hypothesis: organizations that implement strategies guided by the policy will be an experience more diversity in a decrease in racial discrimination organizations implement strategies to raise awareness and sensitivity training.
Importance of the Study
This study is very vital to determine whether the strategy of awareness and sensitivity training alone is an effective intervention to reduce behaviors that racial discrimination in the workplace. It will also help to know how vital it is for organizations to implement a political strategy driven by diversity.
Literature Review
This section will review a series of relevant research in the field of current trends and practices of diversity management and its effectiveness. In addition, we discuss the complaints of discrimination, which is a key driver of diversity management. For purposes of this diversity in the research is limited to racial minorities. The review will focus on two types of awareness of the diversity of strategies and strategy for sensitivity training and human resources strategy focuses on policy.
The following definitions were used for this study: 1 Consciousness) sensitivity training and diversity strategy: a workshop of a two-day training that focuses on training participants to become aware of specific biases. These workshops also aim to enable participants to demonstrate tolerance for differences of minorities. 2) Policy-Based Human Resources Diversity Strategy: A strategy that focuses on human resource policies, such as hiring practices, promotion and retention to determine if just and equitable.
Discrimination lawsuits
From the height of the civil rights movement in the 1960s were as much as race, gender and age discrimination lawsuits, said Gilbert F. Casellas, chairman of the Committee on Equal Opportunities in Employment.
This organization is often the first step in filing a complaint of racial discrimination and could choose the merits of each case, in some cases, the search for settlements as opposed to jury cases. But, as the case Casellas are now more often directed toward Fortune 500 companies to enforce or implement many victories of the civil rights era.
According to a recent survey, the number of companies with employees in a lawsuit against them and 63% in 1995, an increase of 10% compared to 1993. Companies around the world largely underwriting and approval, the effort to make a diverse workforce, multicultural and putting an end to discrimination in hiring and promotion. But, the fact is that many companies have not taken the necessary steps to implement this laudable goal. Consequently, recruitment in mobile work and promotion policies and practices have often been tolerated unacceptable in the past are still valid today (Dilenschneider, 1997, p. 1).
We might consider the frequency with which racial minorities report having experienced discrimination at work. For example, more than 52,000 complaints of racial discrimination filed with the Commission on Equal Opportunities in employment during 1992-1993 to private contractors. Aggregate data on the financial and professional blacks compared to whites, but, suggest that many candidates are simply crying wolf EEOC (Dilenschneider, 1997, p. 1).
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, between 1979 and 1993 the real income of white families increased by 9 percent, while the real income of black families has not changed. The Bureau also reported that in 1993, blacks earn less than their white counterparts in all jobs at all levels. In addition, recent research suggests that these wage differentials persist even after controlling for differences in qualifications.
Finally, studies indicate that blacks, in fact, proportionately occupy certain types of positions, especially those above the much lower level of organizational hierarchies. In fact, even though blacks represent about 12 percent of the U.S. population, they represent less than 5 percent of the management class and less than 1 percent of executives (Brief, Buttram, Reizenstein, Pugh, Callahan Vaslow and McCline, 1997, p. 2).
The Honest Employment Council of Greater Washington, Inc. sent teams of candidates to a post in black and white in terms of gender, age, personal appearance, clarity and how to apply the same jobs. Couples were also equipped with similar qualifications fiction. While Blacks were favored over white 5 percent of meetings with potential employers, whites over blacks were favored in 29 percent of them. In fact, black candidates often said work was already full, while whites were interviewed for the position. This behavior is a clear example of what one scholar has called “passive racism” (Small et al., 1997, p. 2).

China, being a newly made a number of issues that can learn from their Swiss counterparts. This is due to the Swiss economic, political, social and environmental conditions differ significantly from that of China. By promoting transparency, then the resources will be allocated to those who legitimately deserve therefore increase economic stability and robustness.
The Chinese political scene was characterized by the Communist Party and his regime for more than three decades. This system is still running the government. While the government has been able to achieve much more economical, did not defend the democratic principles. For example, the party has been accused of tyranny by many Chinese voters. This case illustrates the fact that the Chinese government still has a long way to go in terms of solving the problems of their citizens. China has seriously jeopardized the rights of the Tibetan people, not listening to their leader (the Dalai Lama), regardless of whether the leader is, in fact, the search for peaceful solutions to problems between the two groups.
In the context of the crisis in Tibet, the Chinese government could borrow the example of Switzerland. When Switzerland is faced with problems that affect large numbers of people, then they usually apply the system of direct democracy. Direct democracy in Switzerland is unique in that any member can change the policies of the state if they can demonstrate their strong policy support from the rest of the population. All you have to do is make fifty thousand signatures in one hundred days. The question is then taken to Parliament, where he addresses people. The nation is usually required to vote on the issue in one day and the person receives a majority of votes, then it becomes law. In addition, Swiss citizens have the right to modify all or part of the Constitution, which they do not represent your rights if you are a hundred thousand signatures within eighteen months. What China can learn from the economic situation in Switzerland
Income inequality remains a major problem in China, even after his success in the years 2002-2007. The reason for these inequalities is apparent that unlike the Swiss government, the Chinese governor has a direct approach to control the economy. This could be the reason why China is facing challenges here and there. For example, before the economic boom, the Chinese government has made programs that people depend on the first. Some economists have argued that in China, it is very hard to separate the state and economy that the two are one and the same thing. This approach of doing business can be effective when policies are made for the excellent of the country. But in the long term, this system gives too much power in the hands of some well connected individuals who are related to the abuse.
China could learn from their Swiss counterparts operating in a free market economy. Issues such as economic networks are rare among the population of Switzerland, irrespective of the fact that Switzerland participates in a large part of international trade. It should be noted here that when a society is to be made elsewhere in the world, the employer must operate under the current conditions of the economy rather than relying on personal relationships. This has promoted equity in the allocation of resources and that is why the Swiss economy is very stable.
What China can learn from the social situation of Switzerland

But, the fall was not as marginal as the country has managed to hold off the ever-changing composition of the population. But, in China the same matter has not been the case. China has introduced a measure that would reduce the rate of population growth therefore shows the announcement of an only child and policies. While this makes small-term benefits to control population growth, the country’s youth population has declined dramatically. This is one reason why the dramatic years of the Chinese economy have disappeared. (Brooks and Tao, 2007) China can learn from their counterparts in Switzerland through the control of its population, so that its economy will not be affected by it.
In terms of social system of China, a number of indicators that China could borrow from Switzerland. For example, if you relax the control of government in matters of religion. Again and again, the Chinese government has been accused by critics of international and local media of his excessive religious control. The reason behind this is that China sees religion as a threat to their socialist system. Thus, in response to this situation, China has established a mechanism that religions records. The latter claims only serve to make a climate of tension between the Chinese people and their leaders. A much safer approach would be the methodology of Switzerland. This country is in so that citizens can follow and religious denomination they want. Even in public institutions, the practice remains the same. Religious freedom was a major problem in the Chinese economy, with Switzerland as a model, China may be on track to establish a greater respect for human rights.
What China can learn from the environmental situation in Switzerland
environmental controls in Switzerland are among the most efficient in the world. This is because the Government has demonstrated its commitment to the fight against environmental degradation. This also means that these people are related to affect their environment to a greater extent than their counterparts in Switzerland. In terms of wood consumption, China has been accused of cutting down a large number of trees in Brazil to meet the needs of the industries of paper. The government has done nothing to curb this problem. In addition, industrial emissions in this country are also at high levels due to the fact that it is the major export center. Some of the most common household items in the world are manufactured in China. So far, the Chinese government has established as minimum measures that may help control levels of these emissions.
China could learn from the environmental laws of Switzerland because the government limits the last sources of carbon. In addition, industries that need rare raw materials must demonstrate environmental responsibility to the public that represents goodwill. (Ortalano and Ma, 2000)
In terms of energy consumption, China has a huge demand for the gas used to drive their cars. Most of these cars have small or no filtering of carbon into the atmosphere. In addition, Chinese consumers are not considered part of the fuel economy methods that could be used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in excess in the atmosphere. The Swiss government has been very keen on this subject and their approach could serve as a lesson for the Chinese government in the future. In Switzerland, many cars have installed filtration with activated carbon and therefore emit carbon into the atmosphere minimum.

Switzerland is politically, economically, socially and environmentally stable. It has also been recognized as a world-class status for a period much longer than that of China. The Communist Party abroad may appear effective, but much suffering. Socially, China can learn from Switzerland to reduce religious discrimination. This can be done by making laws that the government accountable. Economically, China can learn from Switzerland for the separation of politics from the economy, as is the case in China today. Finally, the Chinese government should be more vigilant about their policies on the environment than their counterparts in Switzerland. (Ortalano and Ma, 2000)
